Why I Don't Do Communion Part 3

Why Christians should keep Passover once a year over communion, & why Jesus Christ’s sacrifice is remembered through its annual memorial observance.

Why I Don't Do Communion Part 3

April 29, 2026
Can Christians eat bread and wine any time of year? Of course. But according to the biblical Passover pattern, the memorial of Christ’s sacrifice was tied to a unique night and observance. In this final part of the series, we look at why Passover remains a special annual remembrance, distinct from everyday worship, repentance, and gratitude. The focus is not whether Christians can remember Christ daily, but why the Bible presents Passover as a specific memorial proclaiming His death. Because it happens once each year, the meaning and significance of that night stand apart. Part 3 of 3.

Passover is still a unique event. It’s not that we can’t eat unleavened bread or wine on other days of the year—by all means if that’s your thing, go for it. That doesn’t mean in that moment, in that time, that day, that we would fulfill the commemoration of the memorial and proclamation of Christ’s death.

And while we are continually thankful that our sins can now be forgiven, and we live in a life of repentance with daily focus on our mission to change who we are, become more like Jesus Christ.

Passover is still a unique event. It’s such a special night and because it only occurs once per year, it makes all the more necessary to be there for the remembrance of the incredible sacrifice of our Messiah. Have a fantastic rest of your day.
